It appears that several shows have begun popping up from the Jan/Feb 2007 tour for moe. on their Live Downloads/Nugs.net portal. (LINK) My two cents is this: I am going broke! Nah, but it is fun to say, since I will be getting a bunch of these. I know there are several trains of thought on this one, most specifically SBDs > AUDs or AUDs > SBDs. I believe I am at the impasse between the two, since I believe some AUDs are almost as good as SBDs because the capture more of the audience vibe, especially during great crowds. Then again, the SBDs are able to bring out the little touches that you sometimes can't hear on AUDs. They also are good when you and a great AUD, but have annoying sound issues or people talking ... I know there is a show I listened to recently that was stellar, but I kept hearing a girl almost screehing every so often; not fun. Anyway, I really hope there is a deal on these eventually, ala tDB, where you can purchase a whole tour, say 20-22 shows, for about $200. As for now? I will be going to snatched up Boston and ATL shows! ~ Sean 2/9/07 Boston, MA 2/10/07 Philly, PA (pre-order as of writing) 3/1/07 ATL, GA Comment on this story HERE! |

March 2, 2007 It's taken 16 years for the band moe. to get a little respect. "Our latest album ('The Conch') has gotten really good reviews," says Rob Derhak, sounding a little surprised. "I guess I kind of have a chip on my shoulder from the early days. You know, we felt we had to prove ourselves. We put a lot of blood and sweat into this." In truth, moe. has slowly been gaining some critical fans for a few years. However, the group was starting from nearly zero - initially seen as just another jam band on the block. |

From Noteworthy.com by Clayton Collins moe. – The Conch (Fat Boy): The critical success of 2003's "Wormwood," two years after "Dither," gave a lift to the long-running quintet from Buffalo, N.Y., and "The Conch" (album No. 7) should satisfy fans of the looping, moody musical genre. The echoing guitar and complex rhythms of these masters of improv are best heard live, where the free-form, lava-lamp musings can take cues from invested young fans. But even through earbuds, moe. can induce a meditative state. This well-paced set is varied to a degree that defies description. "Lost Along the Way" is hippyish, haunting. "Another One Gone" kicks in like some weird Old West reggae ballad and delivers a listener to "Wind It Up," which initially evokes deep space. Filmmakers ought to mine these guys for some soundtracks. Grade: B+ Comment on this story HERE! |
