Jiboo's words of wisdom on moe.down
Written by Sean

Here is an FAQ for any questions that newbies to the down may have:

-What's the weather like?
Usually in the northeast it's usually in the 70s during the day, but can get down into the 50s at night. If it rains, it can get significantly cooler. Sumer apparel works, but bring some warmer clothes just in case.

-Can I bring a digital camera?
As of now I have not heard anything from the band, but last year they waived their no digital photography for the down. I would be surprised if they didn't again.

-Can I bring glass bottles?

The band policy is no glass bottles in the camping area. I'm not going to lie, you really couldn't tell that this policy even exists by looking at the camp sites. Security will peek into your coolers when you first enter the site though.

-What is the security like?
Simply put, don't do anything stupid and you'll be fine. In the past, they have not come into the camping area looking to bust people. There are 2 points in which you will encounter security:
1) They will check your cooler when you first walk in.
2) When you go from the camping area to the stage area, there will be security patting you down for any kind of stuff you aren't supposed to have, this includes your own beer (they sell beer at the beer tent and there's a stand on the hill so you can fill up and not miss a minute of the show). If you are caught with something you shouldn't have, they will either confiscate it from you to be picked up after you leave the stage area, or they will make you return to your tent to leave it or dispose of it.

Other than that, security does not make their presence felt, just don't do anything stupid to get yourself in any unneccessary trouble.

-What are the lines to get to the stage like?
Plan to get to the stage area 15-20 minutes before the sets for all the bands run pretty much right on schedule. Security has a tendency to bottleneck and slow down every one at the gate between the camping area and the stage area, so if you try to run in last minute, you may miss a song or two.

-How far is it from the parking lot to the camp site?

About a 10 minute walk or so at worst.

-How far is it from the camp site to the stage
?
Same thing. What's great about the down is how convinient it is to go from one place to another. It really is quite small compared to some of the other festivals.

As a final caution, most moe.rons are peaceful, friendly, law-abiding citizens. But there are some low-life bastards who will steal if given the opportunity. Any valuable you would be absolutely devestated to lose leave home. Any extra money you don't need or credit cards either leave locked up in the car, in your pocket at all times, or really hide it well in your tent. There are people here who have had it happen, so be careful.

Have fun, and see you all at the .down.
